Venom is Not One of the Villains Appearing in Spider-Man PS4

Venom's popularity is at an all-time high right now. The character currently has a movie coming out in October starring Mad Max himself Tom Hardy and his current comic book by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman has garnered plenty of positive reviews. It seems like sky's the limit for the symbiote-powered anti-hero, so it's actually surprising to know that he won't be in Spider-Man PS4.

When asked by a fan about the possible appearance of Eddie Brock's alter-ego in the game, art director Jacinda Chew said that wouldn't be the case. It was simple and to the point, though that does somewhat add to the disappointment at the lack of symbiotes in the game, unless Peter's black suit makes it as an unlockable costume.

To be fair, the game already has characters like Mister Negative, Vulture, Scorpion, Shocker, Electro, and maybe more. Other characters like Black Cat and Taskmaster were confirmed as well, so it's clear that the game is going to be chock-full of Spider-Man characters. They can always add Venom in the sequel or as DLC.

Venom has had an interesting video game history. He was a playable character in the Maximum Carnage video game, alongside Spider-Man and has been the wallcrawler's nemesis for plenty of games. The anti-hero was also a playable fighter in a number of Marvel vs Capcom games, including Infinite as a DLC character.

Spider-Man PS4 comes out on September 7.
