Vegito Wasn't Meant To Return In Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Super has been home to a lot of awesome moments. We've seen Son Goku mix up Super Saiyan Blue with Kaioken and Future Trunks reach a new form that looks fierce, even if it doesn't have a proper explanation. The one moment fans love to rewatch is the return of Vegito, making his first appearance since the Buu Saga and showing off his Super Saiyan Blue form.

What might surprise fans is that Akira Toriyama didn't originally plan to have Vegito return.

In an interview on the fourth collected volume of the Dragon Ball Super manga (via Reddit), it was revealed that Goku and Vegeta did not fuse in the original draft. Toriyama said that their personalities after the Buu saga would have made it impossible to fuse again, but decided to change things up to give fans something exciting.

Now to be fair, Toriyama's logic is perfectly sound. Vegito didn't last too long and was really only there to make fans happy. The fused warrior didn't even beat Zamasu in the end; it was Future Trunks and Zen-Oh. Still, there's no denying that it was a fun moment and remains one of the many highlights of Dragon Ball Super.

Dragon Ball Super can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
