VALORANT Finally Adds 2 Highly-Requested Features in Episode 2, Act 3

Earlier this week, Riot Games launched a major update on its popular first-person shooter VALORANT with the release of Episode 2, Act 3. While the highlight of the update is the addition of the new tropical beach map Breeze, Act 3 also added a new Battlepass and a couple of highly-requested features.

Riot recently released the patch notes for the latest update (version 2.08), detailing the addition of the new Breeze map, bug fixes, and two major features added to VALORANT.

One of those features is the addition of Coach Slots to Tournament Mode Custom Games.

  • Coaches can spectate Tournament Mode games and are locked to observing the team chosen in the custom game lobby.
  • Coaches cannot use Map Pings, Team Chat, or Voice Chat in-game.
  • Coaches can use All Chat and Party Chat to allow for cases where they may need to communicate with a Tournament Moderator.
  • Coaches can pause a match in cases where that functionality is allowed to players.

Another feature added with the latest VALORANT update is the addition of weapon drops to the Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF). For those unfamiliar, HRTF esssentially lets players more adequately hear where other players might be walking within the game. Rather than just heaering footsteps, HRTF can give players a sense of spatial awareness so you can more accurately determine where an enemy might be. Although VALORANT already have HRTF for a while, the devs have just added the ability for weapon drops to now be HRTF compatible.

Having this feature means that players will be able to know how close or far enemies are when they drop or pick up weapons from, so players will need to be more careful when picking up weapons when they're trying to sneak around enemies.
