Unaltered Star Wars Original Trilogy Rumored For 2017 Re-Release

While Disney and Lucasfilm have been busy working on the new films for the Star Wars franchise, new reports indicate that the studios may provide fans with theatrical cuts of the original trilogy some times this year.

Though the franchise is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the special edition release of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, fans continue to begrudge the studio for the absence of high-quality copies of the unaltered original trilogy films. However, according to Making Star Wars, a reputable source of all things Star Wars, rumor has it that Lucasfilm will bring out the un-altered version of the films for re-release very soon.

Apparently evidence and different tips from sources regarding the matter have been piling up, saying that the unaltered Star Wars original trilogy would be rereleased this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise.

Though the special editions of the original trilogy don't pose too much of a problem, many hardcore fans felt oddly unhinged by the CGI enhancements George Lucas added to the home media release of the films, yearning for their original trilogy instead. While there still hasn't been any confirmation on the matter, we'll keep everyone updated as soon as we find more information on the unaltered Star Wars trilogy re-release. Let's hope it pushes through.
