Rumors about the new Assassin's Creed have surfaced from 4chan message boards, and they say that the next game won't be released in fall 2016, breaking from the annual release schedule, instead being pushed to an undisclosed date in 2017. The next Assassin's Creed is also rumored to be set in Egypt, and both rumors were shown to Kotaku by other sources.

The only officially announced Assassin Creed's titles for 2016 for now include more of the Assassin Creed Chronicles side-scrolling adventures, set in Russia and India, releasing in January and February 2016, and the live action film starring Michael Fassbender.

"We can't comment on rumor or speculation. We're always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin's Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!"
