Tye Sheridan: X-Men Dark Phoenix is More Drama than Superhero Movie

Besides starring in this month's Ready Player One, Tye Sheridan will also be reprising his role as Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men: Dark Phoenix later this year. Sheridan talks about the film's approach to Jean Grey's character and elaborates on her romance with Scott.

Talking to The Wrap, Sheridan explains:

"Jean goes crazy in the movie… Well, Cyclops doesn't think she's going crazy; Cyclops just thinks she's gotta work some stuff out. It's interesting, the drama in the movie. We treated this movie as much more of a drama versus a superhero film."

With X-Men: The Last Stand loosely basing itself on the Dark Phoenix story from the comics, a lot of fans were disappointed to see Scott (James Marsden) die so early in the film. Hopefully Cyclops gets more involvement in the story this time around. Good thing Wolverine's not there to be third fiddle in the Jean/Scott/Logan love triangle.

With Simon Kinberg taking the helm for the first time, a lot of people are curious about how Dark Phoenix will turn out. Personally I just want this muddled up timeline of a cinematic universe to end, but maybe I'll change my mind once we get our first previews for the movie.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to come out Nov. 2.
