Two More Suicide Squad Members May Get Spinoff Films

Following the critical backlash on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. is putting more pressure on Suicide Squad. It looks like they have more confidence going into David Ayers' super-villain team up than what they did with Batman and Superman. Just earlier this month, it was reported that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will have her own spin-off film. Now, it seems that The Joker and Captain Boomerang will also appear in spin-off movies.

This is just a rumor at this point, but We Got This Covered has a source claiming that Warner Bros. is so confident that Suicide Squad is going to be a hit that they're already planning to bring the characters, specifically those played by Jared Leto and Jai Courtney, back for more movies. If the unnamed source's claims are right, we can expect to see Leto back as The Joker soon. Here's what the source said:

I've heard more than a few talks of giving some of the other Task Force X members their own spinoffs, and like the Harley Quinn one, these films would open the door for a ton of new DC characters to show up. The Joker is a definite possibility for a spinoff, and Jared [Leto] seems up for it from what I've been told. They're also really hot on Jai Courtney's character Boomerang right now. Nothing's set in stone yet, but you're definitely going to be seeing a lot more of these guys in the years to come.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Leto appear in Ben Affleck's solo Batman film. His actions on the set of Suicide Squad have been off the charts, so if his performance turns out to be as great as we were led to believe, then we'd likely see more of him, but a Joker-centric film would be a first. It's pretty surprising that Captain Boomerang would be considered for a spin-off film. He's not as big as The Joker or Harley Quinn, but perhaps they'll consider him as a supporting character for the spin-off movies. I would like to see Cara Delevingne's The Enchantress get her own spin-off too, especially after hearing all the weird things she did to get the role.

Suicide Squad will open in theaters on August 5.
