Twitch Streamer iiTzTimmy Temporarily Banned From VALORANT During Marathon

On Thursday, Twitch streamer iiTzTimmy received a temporary ban during a VALORANT marathon stream.

While on the path to Radiant, iiTzTimmy was temporarily banned for smurfing in ranked. For those unfamiliar with the term, smurfing is when a high-level gamer creates a new account to play with lower-ranked players. After streaming for seventeen hours, the FPS streamer received a temporary disruption, which he thought may have been a client error, but after closing and opening VALORANT once again, he accepted he had been banned "for cheating."

“I got banned for smurfing, unfortunately,” Timmy told the chat. “I shouldn’t get banned, I should be able to finish this marathon. It isn’t cheating, chat… The whole challenge from Iron to Radiant is a little grey area. You know the whole smurfing… it’s in a really weird area. My agency will be talking to Riot now so I just have to wait.”

Just about an hour after the ban happened, the streamer's account was enabled once again, and he was able to get back on the grind. Additionally, the last game from which he was disqualified did not count on his record.

Riot Games recently initiated a ban wave in VALORANT to help prevent smurfs from impacting the competitive queue of the game. The developer issued a ban wave to remove compromised accounts or accounts that violated the company's Terms of Service. While smurfing isn't explicitly included in the Terms of Service, other related behaviors are covered.

Do you think Timmy deserves to receive a temporary ban?

The road to Radiant marathon is still going on at the time of this writing. Timmy is currently ranked Immortal 3.
