Michael Bay's last foray into the Transformers franchise was said to be The Last Knight, and the next movie is said to be a Bumblebee-centric spinoff set in the 1980s. Thanks to Fandango's Erik Davis, we now have an official synopsis on the movie and a full cast list as well.

Besides Hailee Steinfeld, probably one of the biggest names in the cast is wrestler John Cena. Other than that, everyone else in the cast is more known for their roles on TV. Spider-Man Homecoming's Kenneth Choi has also made it into the list.

What I also love is the fact that Bumblebee will be a VW Beetle in this movie, just like in the original series. The first Transformers paid homage to that by having a yellow Beetle right next to Bumblebee when Sam Witwicky saw him, but now we actually get to see Bee before he decided to be a Camaro full-time.

I'm just sitting here hoping that they keep this movie contained into one story. I'm not really up for a prequel trilogy where everyone knows it ends with Bumblebee being sold in a used car store. It would be a refreshing change of pace for the franchise if you ask me.

Bumblebee is directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings), and the movie is set to hit theaters Dec. 21, 2018.
