A new trailer just dropped for Ryan Reynolds' sci-fi thriller, Life, and some eagle-eyed user on Reddit noticed something familiar about the trailer — it borrows a shot from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3.
The borrowed shot is that of a bunch of New Yorkers looking at awe at something in the sky. Here's a shot-for-shot comparison.
This is the still from Spider-Man 3:
And this is the shot in the trailer for Life:
Ugh, his phone still has buttons.
Granted it's not strange that Hollywood would recycle some B-Rolls from other movies to use for other projects. Just last year, Deadpool actually reused a shot of the X-Jet flying out of the mansion. Michael Bay has also been known to have reused a shot from The Island into one of his Transformers movies (probably the third one? They all look the same if you ask me).
All criticisms aside, the movie actually looks kind of interesting. Then again, some people could call it a rip-off of Ridley Scott's first Alien movie where a bunch of astronauts are stuck on a ship, trying to escape a parasitic alien. How odd is it that Alien: Covenant is also coming out this year?
Life is directed by Daniel Espinosa and stars Ryan Reynolds, Jale Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson. It's set for a release on March 24.
