Tony Stark Won't Be In The Sequel To Spider-Man: Homecoming

It's no mystery that Sony has been making it a point to emphasize that Iron Man will be in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It's gotten so ridiculous that some fans are even calling this movie Iron Man 4ft. Spider-Man. As it turns out, Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark won't be in the Spider-verse for long.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming will feature another TBD Marvel character, but it won't be Iron Man. By the looks of it, it could either be another Avengers (possibly Falcon) or maybe even Ant-Man—seeing as he shares the insect-man theme.

Spidey is also expected to meet another high-profile villain in this sequel, and the studio is sure to find someone who can match the star power of Michael Keaton. I'm just hoping that the Vulture actually survives Homecoming since I want to see him band together with the Sinister Six someday. I'm guessing the second movie will feature someone like Kraven the Hunter or Mysterio; I wouldn't even mind seeing a new Doctor Octopus.

While it's a sure shame we won't be able to see more of the Peter/Tony dynamic in future movies, I'm looking forward to seeing Stark act as Peter's mentor in Spider-Man's first solo outing.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7.
