Tom Holland's Uncharted Movie Has FINALLY Started Shooting

After years of being in development, numerous director changes, and plenty of delays, it looks like Sony's Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland has finally started shooting. This video game adaptation has been in development hell for the longest time, with Mark Whalberg originally set to play Nathan Drake but will now play his foster father Sully. Still, we're just happy that this film is finally going to be made and it might be the start of more movies shooting again.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Uncharted will be shooting today, with many of us excited about possibly seeing some new photos of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake. We know this is going to be an origin story, likely expanding on events from the flashback sequences in the third and fourth Uncharted games, but we're still intrigued about what the movie could bring.

Due to numerous directors leaving, we were confident that the movie would never be made but Venom and Zombieland: Double Tap director Ruben Fleischer stepped up for the role. Now that this movie is ongoing, we're hoping that Fleischer stays on since we have seen so many directors leave this project.

Just in case you don't believe us, here are all the directors that left Uncharted: Travis Knight, Dan Trachtenberg, Shawn Levy, Seth Gordon, Neil Burger, and David O. Russell. It's up there with Ezra "choke a fan" Miller's The Flash and Channing Tatum's now-canceled Gambit movie.

Uncharted will be coming out on July 16, 2021.
