We may not know when we will get to see the Uncharted film (it could get delayed again soon) but Tom Holland wants to assure fans that the adaptation of the Naughty Dog title is still happening. In addition to that, the Spider-Man 3 star offered some interesting details about the movie like the fact that it's going to be a Nathan Drake origin story.
Holland recently spoke to IGN about his upcoming projects and it's no surprise that the Uncharted movie was brought up. Interestingly, Holland was quick to offer some new details about the project.
"I think what Uncharted offers that most video games films don't is that it's an origin story to the games," Holland said. "So if you played the games, you haven't seen what's going to happen in the film. And if you haven't played the games, you're going to enjoy the film because it's information that everyone else is getting at the same time."
Well, at least there's going to be some surprises in the Uncharted film if it ever keeps hold of a director or a release date. Nevertheless, Holland is optimistic about the movie that's been through so many challenges it would make Nathan Drake want to give up.
"I'm super excited to make that movie and it's been a long time coming," he said.
He's not exaggerating about that, either. The project has already lost six directors and keeps getting pushed back. Let's hope that things will finally change for Uncharted this year.
The Uncharted film is currently scheduled for release on March 5, 2021, for now.
