Tim Miller Thinks Deadpool 2 Doesn’t Need To ‘Go Bigger’

Deadpool is one of the most successful comic book films to date. It has broken a number of records and boundaries in the movie industry that it received the go signal for a sequel even prior to its release.

Probably one of the most impressive quality about Deadpool is how the movie managed to become a blockbuster despite such a low budget by Hollywood's standards. The usual trend in Hollywood is if a movie becomes a success at the box office, the sequel gets more budget for additional effects and spectacle. Well, it appears that Director Tim Miller has decided to keep things the same for Deadpool 2 when it comes to magnitude.

At the Silicon Valley Comic-Con, Miller spoke with Comicbook.com and said that the direction of the sequel doesn't necessarily mean "bigger" just because of the success of Deadpool.

Miller explained:

I don't think bigger is better. You tell a story that's organic to the character. Deadpool's world doesn't mean you have to go bigger. I don't think the fans of the movie like it because we had big effects.

It makes sense since the success of Deadpool wasn't really because of the explosions and action sequences. People liked the film for its dialogues and non-conformist nature.

Personally, it's quite a relief hearing the statement from Miller. Naturally, I expected Deadpool 2 to be bigger and more explosive than the last film because of the success of the last film, but with Miller's recent interview, I think it's wise for the film to once again take the road less traveled.

Hopefully though, they'll decide to put more budget into retaining old characters like Negasonic Teenage Warhead and adding new X-Men.

What do you think about Miller's statement?
