Thor Ragnarok: Valkyrie And Loki Have A Love-Hate Relationship

Thor: Ragnarok will be introducing us to a new character in the form of Valkyrie played by Tessa Thompson, and it looks like she—like all the other characters in the MCU—will be butting heads with the God of Mischief Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Thompson admitted:

"Eventually she figures out Lok's not to be trusted. I just think there's something about two folks that kind of come from the same place in a sense, that have the same chip on their shoulder in a way. There's a thin line between how much they hate and love each other."

There's also a fight scene between the two characters, but as the trailers suggest, they'll both eventually end up working together to stop Cate Blanchett's Hela.

"That fight was so much fun. So much fun. First of all. the choreography was really punchy and physical, not as much sword work which sort of keeps you at arm's length with people. I think because Tom's character is involved there's a cheekiness to that fight that made it just really fun — it just felt like a tennis match. I don't know if it remains but there were a lot of one-liners between us. So it has a real sort of sense of humor."

Though Loki is usually marketed as a villain in the MCU, he actually spends a lot of his time helping out the heroes. He did it in the first and second Thor, and he'll be doing it again for Ragnarok. The only real time we never get to see Loki fighting alongside the heroes is in the first Avengers way back in 2012.

In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladictorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters Nov. 3.
