Thor: Ragnarok Star Zachary Levi Cast As Captain Marvel In DC’s Shazam!

Though Zachary Levi may be in the sidelines when it comes to Marvel Studios' Thor movies, he's getting ready to hit the spotlight as he's been cast as Captain Marvel in the DCEU's Shazam! movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levi had beat out other actors who were lined up for the role like Jake McDorman (Limitless) and fan choice John Cena. Other actors that were also being considered were Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods), Derek Theler (Baby Daddy), and Zane Holtz (Perks of Being a Wallflower).

Levi also had this to say about being cast in the role:

It has been confirmed that DC is looking for two actors to play Billy Batson and his alter ego. To those who don't know Shazam! follows the adventures of Captain Marvel, who is the superhero identity of a young boy names Billy Batson; basically, to transform into the Captain, Billy just has to say the magic word "Shazam!"

With the search for Captain Marvel already 50 percent done, it will only be a matter of time before DC announces who's going to play young little Bill Batson. I'm guessing they're going to consider one of the kids from Stranger Things. That show is really blowing up right now.

As of now, Shazam! is still in its early stages of pre-production, and the movie is set to come out April 5, 2019.
