Thor: Ragnarok Star Tessa Thompson Pitches All Female Marvel Movie

Tessa Thompson has been quite outspoken about Marvel having more interesting female characters who aren't just sexy badasses. Now, during a press junket for Thor: Ragnarok, Thompson told CBR that she approached Kevin Feige for a Marvel movie about an all-female superhero group. It was an interesting exchange, to say the least, and Feige seems to be open to the idea but didn't say much beyond that.

Feige joked about the pitch from Thompson. He explained to the press how intimidation was a factor when he was "tapped on the shoulder and turn around to find a gang of the MCU's female powerhouses, all standing and waiting to hear what you have to say."

Thompson then brought up Marvel's history with female teams and brought up the classic Lady Liberators series, which really impressed Feige. Apparently, the original group did have a ton of characters who are currently in the MCU like Black Widow, Scarlet WItch, and The Wasp. Hela was the one who gathered them together, disguising herself as Valkyrie to fool them. Both Hela and Valkyrie are in Thor: Ragnarok so that should be interesting.

Aside from the Lady Liberators, Marvel has also been home to all-female groups like A-Force and Fearless Defenders. Hulu's Runaways can be considered mostly female since there are only two male characters. With Captain Marvel coming out in 2019, the future for Marvel's female characters could be brighter than ever.

While fans ponder on that, they can see Thompson's Valkyrie and Cate Blanchett's Hela in Thor: Ragnarok on November 3.
