Thor Ragnarok: Director Taika Waititi Plays Two Characters; Surtur Will Be Voiced By Clancy Brown

Taika Waititi famously does quirky cameos in all of his movies, and we know that he'll be playing Planet Hulk character Korg in Thor: Ragnarok. As it turns out, he'll be playing just one more character in the film, and renowned voice actor Clancy Brown has also found a role.

In an interview with Comic Book during SDCC 2017, director Taika Waititi reveals that, not only does he play Korg in the film, he also provides mo-cap for Surtur with Clancy Brown providing the voice. He says:

"I did a little of the mo-cap stuff for Surtur, body wise, but then we have Clancy Brown doing the voice of Surtur. I'm playing a character from Planet Hulk called Korg. He becomes Thor's mate. It started off as a very small role. It wasn't me, I didn't do it, but the role has gotten bigger now."

This will not be Brown's first outing in the MCU. He has actually played villain to the Punisher in the second season of Daredevil, and he also voices several characters like Red Hulk and Taskmaster in several Marvel animated series.

One of his most prominent voice roles is probably Lex Luthor for the DC Animated Universe. You just have to love how Brown can make his voice sound calculating and cool. Not to mention, he also voices Mr. Krabs in Spongebob Squarepants.

As of now we don't know how big Surtur's role is in the movie, but with Hela taking the main spotlight as the villain, I'm guessing he'll only appear in one act of the film. Is he in the beginning? or in the end? We'll just have to wait for the movie to find out.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters Nov. 3.
