Thor Ragnarok: Rachel House Talks About Her Character Topaz

Rachel House was one of the funniest aspects of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and I'm happy that director Taika Waititi brought her over to work on Thor: Ragnarok. House's character is named Topaz, and she'll be one of the Grandmaster's (Jeff Goldblum) bodyguards. As it turns out, she'll be a sort of Rival to Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie.

Talking to ScreenRant, House explains:

"Well I see her as the Grandmaster's bodyguard. She's very protective and doesn't like when he shows affection towards other people. Yeah. Particularly Valkyrie. She doesn't like Valkyrie."

House also talks about the Grandmaster and how her character bounces off of him in the movie. She says:

"Well I just feel that he has all the power in the whole universe, so he's very effervescent and he's old and he stores a whole lot of energy. So I think when you've been around that long and you have total authority, what can you do but be happy? And I mean that is Topaz's role as well is to just calm him down with her standard grumpy miserableness."

Looking into House's filmography, you can see that she's worked on several of Waititi's projects including Eagle vs. Shark and Boy. She also has this fun role in Hunt for the Wilderpeople as a no-nonsense social worker, and it's an absolute delight to watch her have a petty argument with a small child.

It's also worth mentioning that the kid in the movie, Julian Dennison, will also be in the upcoming Deadpool 2 with Ryan Reyolds.

Thor: Ragnarok is set for a release on Nov. 3.
