Geek communities around Durham, North Carolina are getting ready for the NC Comicon: Bull City this weekend (Nov. 10 to 12). The convention prides itself on being the "ultimate celebration of comics and pop-culture in the Triangle."
This year's special guests will include Rick and Morty cartoonist Tini Howard, The Flash actor Michael Rowe, Steven Universe actress DeeDee Magno Hall. The convention's musical lineup includes electric group Starkiller, hip-hop pioneer Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and the orchestral folk-pop musician Dante High. The convention has hosted My Chemical Romance vocalist Gerard Way and Doctor Who actor John Barrowman (Captain Jack).
According to North Carolina Comicon's statement, this year's convention is "better, badder, bigger and can't wait to show off!"
Panels in this year's NC Comicon range from "The Science of Justice League" to a live demo of a video game level being built. Rick Veitch, cartoonist of cult comics like Maximortal and Brat Pack, will attend the screenings of the 1982 movie Creepshow and the 1996 movie King Kong vs. Godzilla.
