This Iconic Element Won’t Be Appearing In The Wonder Woman Movie

After making her theatrical debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's really Diana of Themyscira's solo film, Wonder Woman, where we'll be seeing the superheroine on the spotlight. From earlier reports and footage, we already have an idea of how Wonder Woman is setting itself apart from its DCEU counterparts. The movie isn't set in the present time, but rather, it will go deep into the history of the Amazonian warrior during World War I.

However, there's one iconic element in the Wonder Woman universe that DC Entertainment has chosen to forego, and which some fans may be disappointed of.

In an interview with People for DC Comics' celebration of Wonder Woman's 75th anniversary, DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson said that the superheroine's jet won't be appearing in the film. She said:

It will have its own tone and look -- it's beautiful. There is humor in it, there is real emotion in Diana's journey in discovering the complexity of man. There is no invisible jet. Not in this iteration.

Some diehard fans may be disappointed, but this decision makes sense considering the story of Wonder Woman taking place during World War I. There are very few planes used during the time, much less invisible ones.

The invisible jet was first introduced in 1942's Sensation Comics #1 as Diana's main transportation vehicle. It has always been reliable to the DC hero in many situations.

In any case, hope is not entirely lost. There's still a chance that the invisible jet could appear in the Justice League movies, especially since the movie will be set up in the present time.

Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
