Star Wars: The Force Awakens featured cameos from a number of famous people even though we didn't see some of their faces. From Simon Pegg as the junk dealer Unkar Plutt to Daniel Craig as the stormtrooper who was guardin gRey to Ewan McGregorvoicing Obi-Wan Kenobi (along with a cleverly-edited archive dialogue from McGregor's predecessor, Sir Alec Guiness), the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars film brought unexpected celebrities to make brief appearances. However, Jon Stewart turned down the chance to play a stormtrooper because it wasn't the role he had in mind.
While divulging Star Wars: The Force Awakens behind-the-scenes secets with the film's creative team, Empire revealed that the former Daily Show host wanted to cameo as a good guy in the film. But the only available roles to fill were stormtroopers, so Steward decided to turn down the offer. However, there were still a lot of famous people willing to play stormtroopers, including Kevin Smith, Daniel Craig, Michael Giacchino, Ben Schwarz, and Nigel Godrich.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now available on both Blu-ray/DVD and for digital HD. Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to release on Dec. 15, 2017.
