These MTG Core Set 2020 Cards Have Connected Flavor Texts

All the Magic: The Gathering cards from the upcoming Core Set 2020 have finally been revealed, and fans were quick to notice that some of the cards in the set have connecting flavor texts that tell a story.

For instance, the flavor texts for "Rapacious Dragon", "Dragon Mage", and "Flame Sweep" feature the last words of Theria the Sly, Tadith the Wise, and Thaedus the Clever. It turns out that they're not sly, wise, and clever enough to survive the rage of the dragons.

"Rapacious Dragon":

"Surely it won't notice if I take—" —Theria the Sly, last words

"Dragon Mage":

"Yes, it's huge and strong and breathes fire. But we're smart!" —Tadith the Wise, last words

"Flame Sweep':

"I have calculated that a dragon in flight, in a single strafing run, can cover an area of—" —Thaedus the Clever, last words

Then we have the four Elemental cards that tell the Lament of Bala Ged. Check out "Yarok, the Desecrated", "Yarok's Wavedrasher", "Yarok's Fenlurker", and "Healer of the Glade":

When you put the flavor texts of these cards together, here's the Lament of Bala Ged:

Yarok grieves within the waste of Bala Ged's corrupted land // Yarok's waters rush and rage where armies bled into the sand // Yarok's nightmares lurk and wait where dark despair is near at hand //
Grief and rage and nightmares fade where hope and comfort make their stand

It looks like the people at Wizards of the Coast have put a lot of effort into developing the flavors of recent sets. They have been well-consolidated and delivered.
