There's A Mary Jane Watson Easter Egg In Spider-Man Homecoming

Any Spider-Man fan knows that there are two main love interests for the wallcrawler— Mary Jane "MJ" Watson and Gwen Stacy. Though we may not be getting those characters in Spider-Man: Homecoming this July, there is an Easter Egg that calls back to one of those girls.

In a recently released clip of Ned and Peter walking into a party, you can actually hear somebody calling out to an MJ in the crowd. Kudos to Tom Holland Updates for pointing it out:

For now, it looks like Peter Parker's main love interest in the movie will be Liz Allan. Though not a romantic prospect, Angourie Rice's character Betty Brant was also a brief love interest in the comics. With Peter usually the nerdy/awkward type, you'd expect the movie not to have so many potential romantic partners.

As of now, we have no idea when we're going to see MJ or Gwen Stacy in this new MCU/Sony universe. My best guess is that we're going to see them at some point in the sequels, as Peter's new classmates or possibly college friends? Who knows, maybe Marvel will introduce both of them in an after-credits scene.

Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine -- distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7.
