The X-Men Go To Space in New Clip from Dark Phoenix

It's been made clear in the trailers that X-Men: Dark Phoenix starts with a space mission that will bring the team face to face with the Phoenix Force, and 20th Century Fox has released a new clip from the movie where the team jets off to space to save a bunch of astronauts.

What's cool is, we get to see the team work together, this time with Quicksilver and Nightcrawler. We eventually know that Jean Grey is possessed by the Phoenix in this mission, so it's likely things will go wrong at some point. Good thing Fox didn't give too much away when it came to this clip like the previously released clip which reveals that Beast will eventually join Magneto's side.

With Disney officially owning Fox, Dark Phoenix is considered the last entry in the main X-Men timeline that was started by Bryan Singer. After this film (and New Mutants), it's expected that the franchise will be rebooted and fitted into the larger MCU.

With the MCU pretty much established, it would be interesting to see how mutants would be introduced in that series. Will they suddenly appear out of nowhere, or have they existed this whole time without any mention in the past few years?

My money's on the mutants being an after-effect of multiverse altering. I just want Professor X and Magneto to be wisened old men again. I've kind of had enough of the young McAvoy/Fassbender tandem, to be honest. I'll even settle for the characters being middle-aged in the MCU.

Catch X-Men: Dark Phoenix when it comes out June 6.
