With DCEU paving the way with Wonder Woman, Marvel Studios is more confident than ever to release their first superheroine led movie, Captain Marvel. The movie already has a director and a lead star, but now we have news on who will be the writer for the script.
According to Deadline, Marvel has hired Geneva Robertson-Dworet to write the script for Captain Marvel. Robertson-Dworet is also providing the screenplay for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander, and she's also writing Gotham City Sirens for the DCEU.
With its 2019 release date, things seem to moving slow and steady for Captain Marvel. We've known for a while that Brie Larson will be playing the lead role of Carol Danvers, and the director chair will be filled in by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind). Hopefully we'll get more casting news on the project soon.
So far, the full story of the film is still a mystery, but we do know that Captain Marvel will be a period piece like Wonder Woman and will be se in the 1990s. A younger Nick Fury is also set to make an appearance, and the film is said to show just exactly how Nick lost one of his eyes.
Captain Marvel is aiming for a release date on March 8, 2019.
