The Walking Dead VR Game Will Let You Experience Some Zombie Brain-Bashing

If there was one thing that got viewers' adrenaline levels up when watching The Walking Dead, it's when any of the mainstays engage in some walker fighting. The franchise's horror factor is not really in the gore or the disfigurement or even the shock and surprise of zombies--it's in the tough decisions of who to trust and the fear of it being the last time you'll be facing off a zombie.

This is what The Walking Dead's VR experience will bring to fans, as Skybound Entertainment and Skydance Interactive team up to to create multiple VR titles set in the franchise's universe, IGN reported.

The VR game will be an immersive one, thanks to the technology, and will feature both a narrative storytelling as well as decision-making--very similar factors to Telltale Games' The Walking Dead titles. But according to Skybound Interactive's Dan Murray, these are what will set the VR title apart from other horror VR experience.

"There will be some surprises. We haven't decided that. We can't speak too much to what the storyline might be, but there will be a new story. We will be introducing new characters and a new storyline. Beyond that, that's something that we will be able to reveal as we dig deeper into development."

So far, there is no release date yet for The Walking Dead VR game. However, it's currently in development in Unreal Engine, with the PSVR, Oculus, and HTC Vive being the target platforms.
