The Walking Dead is no stranger to mobile games, with a number of them already available in the App Store and Google Play. However, it's doubtful that anyone was expecting the series to follow in the footsteps of Pokemon GO, but it is happening. Developed by Next Games, the mobile title does not have a release date yet, as of this writing.
Like Pokemon GO, The Walking Dead: Our World will let players use their augmented reality app to find and fight zombies. It's a fun enough concept, which can be seen in action on the trailer below. Why it took this long to ape Pokemon GO is questionable, but there's no doubt that fans of the long-running series have something to look forward to.
Star Warshad previously used Augmented Reality to hype up The Last Jedi, but didn't really go beyond making a gimmick for their app. It will be interesting to see if The Walking Dead: Our World can forge it's own identity, despite similar gameplay to Pokemon GO. At the least, it will likely have more depth than the Star Wars one, which was simply a marketing ploy.
The Walking Dead: Our World does not have a release date, though it will come to iOS and Android soon.
