While the Terminator's newer films haven't really lived up to the success of the older installments in the film franchise, James Cameron's 1984 Terminator remains a science fiction classic worth celebrating.

Now, as fans continue to wait for a great Terminator installment to help hit the ignition and fire up the franchise Mental Floss reports that a new boardgame based on Cameron's original 1984 film is on the way. Developed by Space Goat Productions and Lynnvander Studios, the boardgame is being funded through a Kickstarter campaign.

The campaign goes live on February 15, so boardgaming Terminator fans better get ready to help out the cause and bring the game to life. Donators won't just be able to support Space Goat Productions project, they'll also probably get a copy of the game as well, just like what The Oatmeal offered to fans who donated to his Kickstarter campaign for the successful card game, Exploding Kittens.

The game is described as "an asymmetrical strategy game played across two boards, one in 1984 and one in 2029." One player gets to control Skynet's cold, vast machine army while the rest of the players take on the role of the human resistance.

It sounds like popular tabletop social game The Resistance, however a bit less equally divided with one player having an expansive army at his or her command.
