The Russo Brothers on Why Captain Marvel Wasn't in Infinity War

Before Avengers: Infinity War came out, there were conflicting reports that Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) would appear in the film, and this was also confirmed by the Russo Brothers. Marvel was nowhere to be found in the movie (save for a hint at the after-credits scene), and the Russo Brothers explain why Carol Danvers was cut.

Talking to the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Joe and Anthony Russo explained that they wanted to ‘save her reveal.' Anthony explains:

"We also wanted to, it was very important to us to commit... we wanted to commit to this ending very hard… We didn't want to go past the ending very much."

Joe also adds:

"And we considered not doing any tags. For that reason… Then we thought maybe it was too brutal. Everything's about trying to find balance."

The Captain Marvel film will be the first MCU movie to come out in 2019, and the last before we get to see Avengers 4. Though some people were hopeful that she would get her introduction in Infinity War (a la Black Panther in Civil War), it looks like we'll meet her for the first time in her own movie.

Captain Marvel is set to come out March 6, 2019 and Avengers 4 on May 3. You can catch Avengers: Infinity War in theaters now.
