Though Man of Steel officially jumpstarted the DC Expanded Universe back in 2013, Warner Bros. took quite some time to get started on the film's immediate sequel, segueing instead to Batman vs. Superman and then the DC spinoff film, Suicide Squad.

While it seems like the DCEU has gone full speed ahead on other projects, word broke out last month that the studio was finally starting the engine on the Man of Steel sequel and working on talks with Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn.

Now, a rumor spreading online claims that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam is to appear as the main villain in DC's Man of Steel 2. The rumors sprouted from a Reddit user SELF.DCEULEAKS who claims to have inside information from film's creative team. Black Adam was allegedly meant to simply make an appearance in the film, however the idea later evolved into the antihero becoming the main villain of the movie because of DC feeling like Johnson deserved something larger than a cameo appearance.

That's not all. The Reddit user also claims that "Shazam is practically off the table at this point" because "Warner did not feel confident in the first drafts of the script and is much more interested in Black Adam."

While most of these rumors sound exciting, fans have to be reminded to take it all with a grain of salt. Rumors are rumors, and it's hard to completely trust word that comes from an unnamed source. Let's wait till we get official word from Warner Bros. instead.
