While fans are looking forward to the anime’s third season, The Rising of the Shield Hero mobile game is sadly about to end its service this July.
Recently, it was announced that the mobile game The Rising of the Shield Hero ~RERISE~ will end its service at the end of July after over two years since it was first released.
This means fans of the Shield Hero series will soon only have one option if they want to play a game in the series’ universe.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Video Game Adaptations
The Rising of the Shield Hero is a popular isekai franchise that drew a lot of attention when the anime’s first season was released.
Though it is a seemingly typical isekai anime, the series’ darker premise and unfortunate circumstances for the protagonist, Naofumi, made it a compelling show to watch for many anime fans.
Because of its popularity, the series has received two video game adaptations, the first being The Rising of the Shield Hero: Relive The Animation, which was released in 2019.
As its name implies, this game lets players experience the story of the first season, albeit in a classic JRPG format with turn-based combat that’s made with RPG Maker MV.
After this, another game adaptation was released, and this time, it was the ~RERISE~ mobile game, which was launched in Japan on Android and iOS.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Mobile Game Is Closing After Over Two Years
Two years and five months after its launch, the mobile game announced that its service will end on July 31, 2023.
After that day, the game’s servers will shut down and the game will no longer be playable.
While this is sad news for its player base, it is par for the course for many mobile games.
After all, live-service games like these are expensive to run, so they need a lot of players for new content and to keep the servers running.
Of course, that doesn’t mean this is the last we’ll see of the Shield Hero in mobile game form.
After all, many isekai titles such as KonoSuba, DanMachi, and more have gotten new game adaptations over the years.
But we’ll likely have to wait a while before a new game gets revealed, as it will take time to develop one.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3, which will premiere in Fall 2023.
