While a lot of people thought that The New Mutants was already dead on arrival, the new trailer for the film is surprisingly kick-ass. The preview gave us a look at Anya Taylor-Joy's Magik, and a new set photo gives us a better look at Illyana Rasputina's arm (or rather armor).

In the comics, Illyana is actually the sister of X-Man Colossus, and her mutant powers generally deal with teleportation. Besides that though, she was also a disciple of Doctor Strange, and she was the Sorceress Supreme on Limbo. She is able to manifest something called the Eldritch armor which encompasses her body the more she uses her powers, plus she is also in possession of a weapon called the Soulsword.
We don't know how much of Illyana's lore will be explored in The New Mutants, but I'm sure fans weren't expecting her to have the Soulsword at all. Even though she isn't the main character, a lot of fans agree that Illyana kind of stole the trailer can't wait to see her in full when the film comes out.
20th Century Fox in association with Marvel Entertainment presents "The New Mutants," an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.
The New Mutants finally hits theaters on April 3.
