The New Evangelion Movie Will Be Released in 2020

Evangelion 3.0+1.0 has been in development for long, and now we finally know the release year for the highly-anticipated anime film. The film is set to hit Japanese theaters in 2020, and it will probably released in North America shortly after its official release date.

The upcoming Evangelion film's release date was announced during movie previews last weekend, including the previews before Mamoru Hosoda's new feature Mirai of the Future.

The film was supposed to be out sooner, but series creator Hideaki Anno halted the development so he can focus on developing his live-action Shin Godzilla film.

This will be the fourth and final film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series. The last film in the series was called Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, and that was released in 2012.

The Evangelion series is set in a futuristic Tokyo where bio-mechas known as "Evangelion" exist.
