The Mummy’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Debut in New Featurette

When fans were first introduced to the idea, The Mummy, which stars Tom Cruise, seemed like the kind of standalone monster movie that you can sink into at one time.

However, after a few more teasers and the latest featurette, viewers already know that there would be more than one monster in the movie. The other one, will be the split-personality monster Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

While Cruise may be the known character who encounters Sofia Boutella‘s Princess Amunet, it's Russel Crowe's Dr. Henry Jekyll who's actually in the middle of what happens in the movie. as revealed in the Syfy Wire featurette.

"Jekyll operates a thing called Prodigium, and Prodigium essentially is an organization that pinpoints evil and tries to neutralize it. There's a lot t find out in Jekyll and it's not giving to much away to say that he has quite a clear understanding of evil."

More interestingly we learn that The Mummy is not just about the hocus pocus of magic, evil spirits, and reincarnation. If anything, the creators made sure that they ground it on science, hence the inclusion of museums and Dr. Jekyll in the research of monsters.

For a split second, we even see Jekyll transform into Hyde—at least his eyes change, and it's a blink or you'll miss it kind of scene. Crowe even looks just as scary as the primordial goddess—yes, even with two pupils in her eyes.

The Mummy is set to arrive in theatres on June 9. It stars Cruise, Crowe, Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, and Courtney Vance. It will be directed by Alex Kurtzman.

Synopsis:
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in the modern era, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
