The late Carrie Fisher, who died last December, will appear in Star Wars: Episode IX, her brother Todd confirmed.
While Disney and Lucasfilm have already pledged not to revive the actress via CGI technology --something they used for her Rogue One cameo -- Todd said that he and Carrie's daugther Billie Lourd have given them permission to feature previously filmed unused footage of Fisher in the 2019 film.
Speaking to the Daily News, Todd Fisher said: "She's as much a part of it as anything and I think her presence now is even more powerful than it was, like Obi Wan — when the saber cuts him down he becomes more powerful. I feel like that's what's happened with Carrie. I think the legacy should continue."
"Both of us were like, 'Yes, how do you take her out of it?' And the answer is you don't," Todd added.
Leia will reportedly play an important role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi but Todd did not elaborate how the storyline would changed following his sister's death.
Star Wars; The Last Jedi is set to release on December 15, 2017, and Episode IX will be released on 2019.
Director Colin Trevorrowrecently revealedthat the script of Episode IX has been completed.
