The Last of Us Part II Has NSFW Reference to Crash Bandicoot

When people talk about The Last of Us Part II on the internet, they tend to talk about how the story forced characters in a certain direction or how "sOnY hAs A PoLiTiCaL aGeNdA." Some have also been a bit more positive, enjoying moments between Ellie and Dina or how cool the guitar gameplay is but there is one thing fans don't seem to be talking about; the EXTREMELY dirty way developer Naughty Dog references Crash Bandicoot, the series that made them popular.

During one of the early missions where Ellie and Dina are finding resources, they check out the house of late Eugene, who has been described as a nice enough dude who loves his weed. As they check his stuff out they find a number of porn tapes like Dong of the Wolf and Smash Brandi's Cootch.

Smash. Brandi's. Cootch. Sound familiar? That's because it purposefully sounds like Crash Bandicoot, which has to be the weirdest way to reference a family-friendly franchise. Then again, the studio is called Naughty Dog so maybe we shouldn't be too surprised. At the least, it's one of the lighter surprises in a dark game like The Last of Us Part II.

Thankfully, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Timeis coming out this year, ensuring that Crash won't just be another obscure reference. Granted, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and CTR Nitro-Fueled pumped back interest in the orange marsupial but this is his first new game in a long time. It's just good to know what we're getting a new Crash game and that Naughty Dog isn't too cynical that they regret their time with this beloved icon.

Fans can get The Last of Us Part II right now on the PlayStation 4. Crash Bandicoot 4 is getting released on October 2 for PS4 and Xbox One.
