The Last Jedi Rumors That Mark Hamill Didn’t Know Luke’s Fate Till The Premiere Gets Debunked

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is enjoying a wave of overwhelming critical and commercial success, however, there are fans that feel upset that the film subverted expectations and changed the direction of Star Wars lore.

Some audiences feel betrayed that writer/director Rian Johnson turned Luke into a flawed and jaded Jedi instead of writing him as the benevolent master that everyone expects him to be. Mark Hamill initially felt upset by the way the character was written as well, however, the Star Wars legend later on admitted that he realized that Luke's path was what The Last Jedi needed.

Amidst all the chaos in the Star Wars community, a misleading rumor started running around, suggesting that Hamill didn't know the ending of the Star Wars sequel trilogy installment when he worked on the film. According to the rumor, Lucasfilm executives decided to write off Luke in The Last Jedi during the film's post-production process, keeping the character's death from Hamill.

The Star Wars legend, however, debunked the rumor, calling it "complete BS."

"Amazing! Every word in that tweet is WRONG. No wonder they have ANON in their title. I'd want to remain anonymous if I were spewing complete BS, too," Hamill wrote in his post. "#Disney angered? Final scene to surprise me? HA HA HA HA HA HA!"

This should help calm down the fiery debate going on in the Star Wars fanbase. Right now fans who're against The Last Jedi are using the rumor to help fuel the negativity, so it's good to hear Hamill strongly debunking the hearsay.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is currently screening in cinemas.
