Peter Jackson's Middle-Earth films have pushed the boundaries of the PG-13 rating before, but it looks like the extended edition of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies may be the one to actually break that wall. The longer versions of the Hobbit films will be returning this Fall, and the third and final film of the trilogy, has been labeled with an R-Rating by the MPAA, the Rope of Silicon reports.
The reason it got an R-rating is "Some Violence".
That seems weird because I don't remember seeing a movie that was slapped with a Rated-R rating for just "some violence". That makes me wonder what Peter Jackson added in this extended edition for the film to get that label.
Are you going to see the extended edition of the The Hobbit films in theaters?
