The Fly Remake In Talks For This Possible Director

Remakes and reboots seem to be the talk of the town nowadays. Hot on the heels of the possible reboot of The Matrix, now another new movie with a cult following will see its own remake.

Deadline has reported that there is a The Fly remake already in development over at 20th Century Fox. Recently, it seems that the project has finally landed some talks for a possible director with JD Dillard.

Fans may know him from his stint with Sleight, and the director may bring in his expertise as both a director and co-writer, the latter being shared with Alex Theurer, who has been collaborating with him before. It's also good to note that both Dillard and Theurer are not neophytes in the area of sci-fi or even horror, so a mix of both may be a great combination for the remake.

This won't be the first time that The Fly will be remade. Ironically, its original film isn't even the most remembered. Even when The Fly was already shown as early as 1958 under the direction of Kurt Nuemann, and made into follow-ups including Return of The Fly and Curse of the Fly, David Cronenberg's 1986 masterpiece with Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis remains the most well-known and well-loved.

The Fly is more than just bad science gone wrong—it's so horrible that an amount of horror would be a perfect treatment. Once Dillard and Theurer are officially onboard, hopefully we'll get a few more details and insights as to how they plan to make this a different one.
