The Flash Movie is Now Looking for a New Director

After no updates on its shooting or production progress, The Flash the movie has a rather grim update. The set has bid goodbye to director Rick Famuyiwa.

Speaking to Variety, sources have confirmed that the split was due to creative differences.

"When I was approached by Warner Bros. and DC about the possibility of directing The Flash, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day. I was also excited to work with Ezra Miller, who is a phenomenal young actor. I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor, and heart. While it's disappointing that we couldn't come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity."

Famuyiwa noted that despite the split for this project, he will still pursue opportunities in filmmaking that will allow him to tell stories that "speak to a fresh generational, topical, and multicultural point of view." So far, Warner Bros. has not yet commented on the incident, but it's expected that a new director will be announced to helm the project.

This is a little surprising considering that pre-production should have already been already far along. Production was even slated for early next year, if the movie was going to meet its March 16, 2018 deadline in the movies.

What's more alarming is that this isn't the first time The Flash movie has had a director exit production. Previously, it was helmed by Seth Grahame-Smith, though that incident was quickly replaced by Famuyiwa. Whether or not a new replacement is already ready has yet to be announced.

Neither is this the first DC hero franchise that had lost a director during production. Wonder Woman didn't use too have Patty Jenkins on its director's chair. It used to be Michelle MacLaren, who citing the same reason of "creative differences" with Warner Bros.

Are these clues as to how creative visions of directors are being dealt with in Warner Bros' side? And should we be a little worried for future DC Comics films from here on?
