The Anthem is More Like Star Wars & Marvel Universe Than Mass Effect, According to BioWare

If you're one of the people who thought that BioWare is masking The Anthem as another Mass Effect game, think again. In The Anthem, players will play as a Freelancer, one of a group of brave exosuit-wearing people who leave their civilization to explore a dangerous landscape. BioWare considers it a "science fantasy" like Star Wars instead of hard science fiction like Mass Effect. That means that it will take less time dumping exposition and helping you understand the world you're in. Instead it will focus on showing us a cool future where Freelancers can just have fun exploring and killing creatures. Here's what BioWare's Aaron Flynn said during an interview with CBC:

"It's in a genre we call science fantasy, very much like Star Wars, very much like the Marvel Universe where you see a lot of amazing things happening but we don't worry too much about why they are happening or how they're happening; the science of it. Mass Effect is a more a real hardcore science-fiction IP [but Anthem] is much more about just having fun in a game world that lush and exotic and really sucks you in."

This reminds me more of Destiny - less story-driven, faster paced, and more action heavy than BioWare's previous RPG games such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect. The world looks wonderful, and it looks like this game will encourage a lot of cooperative multiplayer games.
