The $300,000 Stan Lee Bank Account Theft Reportedly An Inside Job

A day after celebrating his 95th birthday, word came out saying that $300,000 was stolen from Stan Lee's bank account through an allegedly fraudulent check.

Yesterday, The Blast reported that members of the Beverly Hills Police Department were investigating the matter, saying that the check was drafted on October 4 and that it was noted for a "loan" by Lee's Hands of Respect charity memo.

According to the publication, Lee claimed that the signature on the check was forged. Now, in a new update, the Blast reports that the Marvel Legend's team suspects that the forgery and theft may very well have been an inside job. The team says there only a few people with access to the comic book writer's checkbook, and the number of individuals at the charity who would benefit from the $300,000 theft even more so.

Lee has reportedly been "adamant" in claiming that he didn't write the check himself, nor that he requested funds from his bank account. Right now the BHPD is still working on the investigation, working on obtaining search warrants and bank records that might help lead to the questioning of individuals with access to Lee's checks.

It's terrible that something like this has happened to Lee, a day after his birthday nonetheless. We hope that the investigation comes along smoothly and that the BHPD find the criminals involved.
