Thanos May No Longer Eye Death in Avengers: Infinity War

It looks like Marvel Studios is planning to bring a few slight changes to Avengers: Infinity War's massive villain, Thanos.

Though Marvel has been speculated to follow a loose version of the Marvel Comic's Infinity Gauntlet story for Avengers: Infinity Wars , Screen Rant reports that a new comment by co-screenwriter Stephen McFeely in the Docor Strange Blu-ray special features reveals a few changes to Thanos' goals.

"His goal is to re-balance the universe as he sees it. So when he figures out that the Infinity Stones could do this for him at the snap of a finger, that becomes his main goal."

This is a slightly different goal from the ones that Thanos has in the comics. The Mad Titan has always been in love with Death, a high concept character that takes on the form of a woman. To please the woman he loves, Thanos takes over the universe and tries to provide her with as many souls as he can.

The absence of the word "Death" in McFeely's comments may come as a surprise to fans who've seen the massive Titan smile at the thought "courting Death" by conquering Earth in the post-credits scene of The Avengers. Has Thanos really forgotten about Death, or is McFeely simply trying to avoid spoilers?

Avengers: Infinity War premieres on the big screen on May 4, 2018.
