Thanos Co-Creator Jim Starlin Says Firing James Gunn Was a Mistake

The recent firing of James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has resulted in a lot of people talking, with most celebrities seemingly siding with Gunn. While most people agree that his tweets were stupid and unfunny, they feel that his progression as a person since then takes priority over that. Add Thanos co-creator Jim Starlin to that list.

Venting his frustrations on Facebook, Starlin feels that Disney got played and he feels that Gunn's dumb tweets were "clearly meant to be foolishly provocative rather than taken as advocacy." Starlin still calls the Tweets stupid of course but he sides with Dave Bautista when it comes to Gunn.

It seems most of the public has sided with Gunn, despite what the alt-right supporters have managed to dig up from the Super director's past. Anyone who's seen Gunn's Facebook posts knows that he isn't that person who posted those Tweets anymore or has at least learned from that experience.

Fans have started a fairly popular petition for Disney to rehire Gunn and it seems like Starlin wouldn't mind joining them. Granted, he hasn't signed the said petition as of this writing but he does feel that Gunn was wronged.

What do you guys think of the James Gunn drama? Should Disney rehire him? Does Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 need him?
