Terminator 6 Will Be Borrowing One Key Element From Genisys

James Cameron has outright stated that the next Terminator movie will be ignoring the last three Terminator films, but with Arnold Schwarzenegger coming back, T6 will be borrowing one key element from Terminator: Genisys—the reason why terminators age.

In Genisys, it was revealed that the skin around the T-800s was still organic, therefore it would age over time. It was actually a very clever element, and it explained how Schwarzenegger's "Pops" was old in T5. The same reasoning will be used for Schwarzenegger's age in Terminator 6, and in an interview with THR, Cameron explains:

"So, obviously he's one that's been in action and operation for a long time. And that's all I want to say about the actual story part of it. But it's actually quite intrinsic to the story, that he's subject to the frailties of the flesh."

Director Tim Miller also talks about how this movie's T-800 will have evolved emotionally over time (just like the one from Genisy)s. He states:

"Emotionally and intellectually he will have evolved. They're learning machines. But I think that's a way to make it different than it was… "I think we should embrace his age. And that's what's going to make it interesting and fresh for the fans. And I can't tell you, but man, some of the scenes that the writers wrote to embrace that idea are fucking fantastic."

I don't know if Miller saw the last movie, but the aging T-800 was also given some quirks for being pretty old in the film. His joints would creak and malfunction, and as forgettable the movie was, a lot of people can remember the quote from Pops: "Old. Not obsolete."

Hopefully the writers have something different in mind when it comes to Terminator 6. As it currently stands, there are more "bad" Terminator films as compared to the good ones. Let's hope Cameron can save this sinking ship.

Terminator 6 comes out summer of 2019.
