Chris Pratt's casting as Mario in Illumination's upcoming 3D-animated flick The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been stirring quite the controversy since it was first announced. The backlash only grew significantly bigger after the production studio unveiled the first teaser trailer for the project and according to a lot of folks, Pratt shouldn't have been cast in the first place.

Turns out, even seasoned voice actors aren't sold on the idea and that includes The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans, and Loki star Tara Strong who recently aired her grievances on social media.

Taking to Twitter, the Miss Minutes actress blasted Hollywood's treatment of voice actors, saying that they are undervalued despite their contributions. In a previous tweet, Strong chimed in on the whole Mario casting backlash and said that Martinet should have been cast for the role and not her MCU co-star Chris Pratt.

She wrote: "Voice actors- I’m gonna put my heart & soul in this for at least 20 years, help sell billions in merch, make the studios millions of dollars & make generations around the world happy. Hollywood- We don’t care."

Strong raises a pretty valid argument and there's someone who has the right to speak regarding the matter, it's definitely her. However, it doesn't seem like Illumination is going to be fazed by the controversy surrounding Pratt's casting and honestly, it's one of those things that we just have to accept because I don't see the actor being replaced.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie will have its theatrical release on April 7, 2023.
