Talk Droid with These Cool DIY Star Wars Helmets

Yesterday, we shared a hilarious video showing what R2-D2 had been saying in some iconic moments in the Star Wars saga. While it’s cool to understand droids like Luke Skywalker and Padmé Amidala, it’s way better to actually talk like one (a.k.a. “Droidspeak” in Star Wars language).

Some people who want to do droidspeak have probably tried their hand at a few whistles, clicks, and beeps, but the guys at Minimum Effective Dose are offering a way cooler option. They have created a helmet that could translate human language into droidspeak – BB-8 and R2-D2’s exact language.

It’s worth noting that when you speak to someone else with the helmet on, both of you will understand each other, as shown in the videos below:

Well, they don’t offer exact translations, since they only make droid sounds with each sound detected. Still, it’s pretty awesome to wear one of those helmets and have your own geeky, private conversation, or probably play a prank on someone.

If you want to talk like R2-D2, here are instructions from Hackster on how you can build one of these helments on your own.
