Supreme Leader Snoke’s Praetorian Guards In Star Wars: The Last Jedi Detailed

Though Lucasfilm has slowly been releasing more info on the different characters, events and planets in Star Wars:The Last Jedi, rumors regarding the highly anticipated sequel trilogy installment continue to leak out into the internet, providing fans with potential spoilers for the upcoming Star Wars film.

The latest leaks add more detail to Supreme Leader Snoke's Praetorian Guards – a personal team with personal designs for each member which were previously referred to as "Guards of Evil" in a listing of The Last Jedi action figures which were leaked out last month.

According to a report by Making Star Wars, the Praetorian guards are actually updated and redesigned versions of Return of the Jedi's royal guards. Like the Emperor's guards, the Praetorians come in red armor, however each one has their own helmet, weapon, and "fabric ornamentation." This allows one guard to fight with nunchucks while the other wields "double-bladed fighting sticks" in battle.

Here's a sketch the site provided on an Elite Praetorian:

With their weapon described to be similar to a halberd with an electric field running along its blade like the Executioner Stormtroopers of Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma, the Elite Praetorian's design seems to suggest that fans may get a few action sequences from these guards in The Last Jedi – it would be a shame if director Rian Johnson gave the guards an elite design and decided to leave them as wallflowers in the film. However, as cool as they sound, without confirmation, everyone will have to wait and see whether these guards actually appear and fight in the upcoming film.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres on December 15, 2017.
