Stranger Things Star Will Be New Mutants’ Cannonball

Fans of the lovable and shy Jonathan Bryers won't just see actor Charlie Heaton in the awaited second season of the sci-fi sleeper hit, but also in the anticipated X-Men movie, New Mutants.

The new casting is a big step forward, as Heaton's inclusion in the movie will bring in the character Cannonball into the mix, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Heaton will be joining Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), both of whom have already been casted to join the movie as Wolfsbane and Illyana Rasputin respectively. Rosario Dawson is also still in talks to join the cast, with her addition looking to fill the role of a medical doctor with a power to create a biofield shield around herself.

The Stranger Things star will join as Sam Guthrie, the mutant who is able to fly at jet speeds and be invincible when he is in flight. His history is also a very rich one, with a rather sad background that almost pits him against the New Mutants. He's almost appears like the big brother type with a darker past, one that Professor Charles Xavier will see through so Sam can take his place in the team.

Sadly, given that Charles Xavier's inclusion in New Mutants was already denied, this means that Cannonball's well-known storyline won't be followed. But his inclusion definitely opens up so many avenues that the movie could explore.

New Mutants will arrive in theaters on April 13, 2018. Josh Boone is set to direct the movie and help out in writing the script with Knate Lee.

Read:Avatar will see another familiar face in the sequel.

Star Wars will be adapted into cinestories.
